Adopt a dog?! Yep. What in heaven's name do princesses and homeless dogs have in common anyway?
In a nutshell (or, to make a long story short!), Created to be His Princess is published by Walk by Faith Ministry, which shares the Gospel as we minister the Lord's love to people and homeless dogs, too. Please check out the adoptable dogs and adoption process at http://www.walkbyfaith.petfinder.com.
The longer version is that the Lord led me years ago to a crowd of people standing by a road in the rain as they watched a dog that had just been run over by a car. Nobody knew what to do. Though I had neglected my childhood dog and had minimal experience or care for animals as a whole, I knew exactly what to do. I carried the bleeding dog into my car, handed my keys to a stranger, dropped the dog at the vet's, prayed, and watched the Lord unfold His plan.
From that day forward, I could not stop. It was in my blood. Dog by dog, I hauled them off the streets to the vet, transferred them to my home, helped rehabilitate them, and adopted them out. I started an animal rescue group, but had no idea at the time the Lord would convert my work into a ministry. Through the years, I watched the Lord use the homeless dogs to bring me to people in need, and use people to bring me to dogs in need.
Time and again, I watched the Lord use the dogs to open up people's hearts to hear the Gospel, to be saved, prayed for, healed, delivered, set free, restored, and so much more. The years of transformation both in me as a child of God and in the work I did culminated in the birth in November 2009 of Walk by Faith Ministry, Inc.
As the ministry developed, the Lord showed me there would be so very much more to the ministry - including praying, preaching, writing/publishing, and helping people in need. He further revealed to me the ministry would specialize in the people and dogs the world had given up on.
I know all about the lost, broken, and forgotten. I was all of this myself, and more, until the Lord took a-hold of me and began His absolutely amazing transformation of my heart and life. You can read my testimony by visiting the Princess Lara page.
As for the dogs, in many ways Walk by Faith Ministry is like a sanctuary and hospice. Why? At any one time, it is not uncommon that we are providing love and care to dogs that are disabled, handicapped, blind, deaf, dying, and more.
In terms of the people, above all else, the ministry's top priority is to share the Gospel to a world in need.
